True Friends – Why Is Jony Different? (Part 1/2)

This post follows on from my ‘9 part Success Series’ (Day One click HERE – if u missed it) and is aimed to help you improve your life by surrounding yourself with positive people who help push you forward, rather than negative people who pull you back.

I’ve had quite a few emails on the topic of friendship since I started the ‘9 part Success Series’ so I think this post will help many of you who have sent me questions… Thank you for all of you who took the time to email me… Love ya all!

So, who is Jony?

Above all else Jony is hyper enthusiastic about everything he does. If he’s not tearing across the countryside doing an Enduro on his Moto GT dirt bike, he could be jumping out of a plane, or hot-wheeling in a Ferrari in Dubai. When I can pin him we are bound to have a few beers together.

Perhaps sometimes a few too many! Haha! But there’s nothing like bonding, having a laugh, and building your business, all at the same time. I’ve been blessed with beautiful friendships in my life. Some of my friends live close by, but most live far away.

They live in Melbourne, France and America to name a few.

I love spending time with people who are energetic, enthusiastic, honest, optimistic, loyal and caring.

Jony is these all rolled into one. And then some.

I like to spend time with people who embrace life with open hearts and positive minds. Jony is a perfect example of how to be the perfect friend and a decent person who cares about everyone. His positive energy and optimism is a constant source of inspiration for me. As an adventurous person and a successful entrepreneur, Jony optimizes the go-getter model for life!

Because Jony is such a positive influence on my life, I know any time spent around him is good for my own happiness and the success of my businesses. And I truly thank Jony for that! So whenever he needs any copywriting projects done, I always put my heart and soul into his copy as I know exactly who I am writing for…

There’s a lesson there if you are wanting to improve your own copy. And who doesn’t? While you have never met me, I bet you possess the qualities I look for in a friend. You follow my blog so you must be interested in the topics I write about. So I also thank you right now.

Thank you for putting your time and trust in me and what I have to say. I really appreciate your trust in me. And if you are also a customer of mine, and have bought any of my books and products, then a double thank you.

I always try to overdeliver or die trying. It’s gym time now, but I want to help you some more on this topic. I always remember a phrase the great Dan Kennedy always uses – “Time Vampires” – the people in your life, personal and business who suck the time out of your life.

In that regard, I even like to bend this a little and call them “Life Vampires” – because that’s how it feels to me. If they are sucking your time, they are also sucking your life away…

Final Thoughts True Friendship As An Entrepreneur

Building solid, authentic friendships can be a valuable support system as you navigate the entrepreneurial journey.

Here are a few key characteristics I reckon sum up a true friend:

Loyalty Trumps Everything 

A true friend is always loyal and stands by your side, even in tough times. They are faithful to their commitment to you, showing that they value your friendship.

Trustworthiness

Trust is fundamental in any relationship, and a true friend is trustworthy. They keep your secrets, are reliable, and you can count on them to be there when you need them.

Total Honesty – Always

A true friend is honest with you, even when it’s hard. They offer constructive criticism and are willing to tell you the truth, even when you might not want to hear it. They do this out of concern for your well-being and growth.

Be Supportive

True friends support your goals and dreams. They are your cheerleaders and offer encouragement when you’re feeling down. They celebrate your successes and help you learn from failures.

Be Understanding

A true friend understands that people have strengths and weaknesses, ups and downs. They accept you for who you are, without judgment.

Be A Good Listener

They truly listen when you talk, showing genuine interest in your thoughts and feelings. They don’t interrupt or try to make the conversation about them; instead, they offer empathy and understanding.

Be Respectful – Always

A true friend respects your opinions, decisions, and your space. They understand the importance of boundaries and do not overstep them.

Be Communicative

True friends express their feelings openly and honestly. They discuss issues that arise in the friendship rather than letting resentment build up.

Try To Always Be Fun to be Around

True friends enjoy each other’s company and have fun together. Shared laughter and joy are significant parts of a strong friendship.

Be Growth-Oriented

A true friend not only accepts you as who you are but also inspires and challenges you to grow and become a better person.

Just remember, true friendship is a two-way street. It involves give and take, understanding, and compromise. It may not always be easy, but the effort is worth it for the deep connection and shared understanding that comes from a true friendship.

Now go and call your best friend and make them feel special – go on call them NOW!
